IT in the Mathematics Classroom Three Try-It lessons teach students to use Microsoft® Excel to create line graphs,
bar graphs, and pie charts. In a fourth Try-It lesson, they use technology to
compare different graphs of the same data. Each Try-It lesson has a comple-

lessons. Each Try-It lesson covers one phase of the writing process: Pre-writing,
Drafting, Revising, and Editing. Four complementary Apply-It lessons allow the
teacher to apply this technology to the writing process in their language arts
curriculum.
IT in the Science Laboratory Students use Microsoft® Excel in a   Try-It lesson to chart and graph extreme
weather data. The follow-up Apply-It lesson enables the teacher to incorporate
data-graphing via Microsoft® Excel into other areas of the science curriculum.
Other Try-It lessons show the student how to use an Internet Web Browser and
Microsoft® PowerPoint® to conduct scientific research and present their work.
Apply It  lessons provide an endless range of research and presentation options
in the science curriculum.
IT in the Social Studies Classroom Try-It  lessons lead students through the research and presentation process using
an Internet Web Browser and Microsoft® PowerPoint within specific social studies
contexts. Other Try-It lessons show students how to use Microsoft® Excel to
create line graphs and bar charts for presenting social studies information. The
follow-up Apply-It lessons provide opportunities to apply these technologies to
teacher-created social studies contexts.
