Most sites apply restrictions to student Windows logons; however, there are some required user permissions that must be given in order for iTRAC (techcenter21 and LifeCenter21) to function.
- On each student station, change the default Security settings to allow FULL CONTROL for all of the following:
- The iTRAC install path folder (typically C:\TC21_EXE)
- The AES Common folder (typically C:\Acommon)
- The TC21.ini file (typically C:\Windows\Tc21.ini or C:\WINNT\Tc21.ini)
- Confirm a Security Tab is available in the Propertiesfor the folders and files. If there is no Security Tab in the properties menus, you will need to activate the Security Tab using the following:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel
- Open Folder Options (click on the Tools drop-down menu and select Folder Options…)
- On the View tab, under Advanced Settings, CLEAR Use simple file sharing (Recommended) (de-select it)
- Right-click on the folder or file being changed and click Properties.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click to select the User from the list of authorized Users. (Student, Teacher, etc.)
- In the Permissions for Users window, click Full Control (the security option in the Allow column).
- Repeat this procedure for all of the above files and folders, for all User accounts for this Lab.
