Adjusting the Volume of the Microphone

Issue

If you are experiencing problems with the microphone, the following steps will walk you through the process of adjusting the recording levels. Keep in mind that these levels should have been properly adjusted when the module was installed.

Action

1.       Click on Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Multimedia (or possibly Entertainment), and click on Volume Control.

2.       Under Options, select Properties.

3.       Under Properties, click on Playback, and make sure all of the boxes have a check mark in them, and then click OK. A screen similar to the one below will appear:

4.       Set the Wave Balance to 75% and set the CD Audio Balance to 50%.

5.       Make sure that none of the Mute boxes have a check mark in them.

6.       Under Options, select Properties.

7.       Click on Recording. Make sure that all of the boxes have a check mark in them, and click OK. A screen similar to the one below will appear:

8.       Make sure that the Select box under Microphone is checked. Set  the Microphone to 100%

9.       If there is an Advanced button under the Microphone, click on it. Make sure that the Automatic Gain Control (AGV) box has a check mark. Click on the Close button.

10.     Under Options, click on Exit.

The settings for your Microphone should now be correct. Try working with it. If you are still having problems, give us a call.
