Construction and CAD: Reset Menus in AutoCAD

Issue

If you find that several crucial menus and toolbars are missing from the AutoCAD LT screen, students did some incorrect steps in the activity. The students will not be able to execute commands in the program until you correct the menus.

Action

1.       Click the Command Line (at the bottom of the screen), and then type menuload and press the ENTER key. The Menu Customization window will appear.

2.       Click the Menu Groups tab.

3.       Click the Browse button. The Select Menu File dialog box will appear.

4.       Click the down-arrow on the right side of the Files of type box, and then click Menu Template (*.mnu) in the drop-down list. It is the 2nd option down.

5.       Click aclt.mnu, and then click the Open button. The Menu Groups tab will appear again. If you do not see aclt.mnu, browse to the correct location. The File Name path will either be:

AutoCAD 97

C:\Program Files\AutoCAD LT 97\aclt.mnu

6.       Make sure there is a checkmark next to the Replace All option.

7.       Click the Load button.

8.       Click Yes when you are asked if you want to continue loading the MNU file.

9.       Click the Close button.

The menus and commands should be restored.
