Manufacturing and Automation: Testing the LASY AGV Sensors, Lights, and Motors

Issue

If, when you start the AGV Software, you do not get a  Lasy Control Not responding,” message, but can not get the AGV to run properly, do the following steps to check the different components of the AGV.

Action

Reset Interface

1.       Inside the Lasy software, click on Tools and click on Reset Interface.

2.       A screen similar to the one below should appear:

3.       If it does, continue on. If you get the following message:

You will need to send the AGV, Interface Board, and Interface Cable back to AES for testing.  Call AES Customer Service to let us know

Check the AGV Wiring Connections

First make sure that the wires coming from the AGV are plugged into the right slots on the Interface board.   Each of the 5 wires should have a tag indicating it’s number.  Looking at the AGV from the top:

§         Wire #1 controls the left motor.  Make sure it is plugged into the #1 slot

§         Wire #2 controls the right motor. Make sure it is plugged into the #2 slot

§         Wire #3 controls the lamp. Make sure it is plugged into the #3 slot

Flip the AGV onto its back.

§         Wire A1 controls the right sensor. Make sure it is plugged into the #A1 slot

§         Wire A2 controls the left sensor. Make sure it is plugged into the #A2 slot

Make sure that the wires are plugged onto the correct slots, and then continue on.

Test the Lamps

1.       Click on Tools and click on Test Lamps

2.       Click on the 3rd lamp in the L1 column

3.       The light on the bottom of the AGV should turn on.

4.       Click again on the 3rd L1 Lamp.  The light should go off

5.       If the Light on the bottom of the AGV didn’t turn on, you will need to sent the AGV, Lasy Interface Board, and Interface Cable back to AES for testing.  Call AES Customer Service to let us know

Test the Motors

1.       Flip the AGV upside down

2.       Click on Tools and click on Test Motor

3.       Click on the Stop signs next to Motor 1 and next to Motor 2

4.       The Stop signs should turn Green and the wheels on the AGV should start to turn.

5.       Click on the Green Go signs to shut off the motors

6.       If the Motors do work, continue on.  If the motors don’t turn on, you will need to send the AGV, Lasy Interface Board, and Lasy Cable back to AES for testing.  Call AES Customer Service to let us know

Check the Sensors

1.       Flip the AGV onto its back

2.       Click on Tools, point to Show Interface Status, and click on Basic Module

3.       Wave your hand over the sensors on the AGV and look at the values next to the 1 and 2 under Analog Sensors

4.       If the sensors are working properly, those values will fluctuate as light hits the sensors.

5.       If the values don’t change or if the AGV still doesn’t work, you will need to send the AGV, Lasy Interface Board, and Lasy Cable back to AES for testing.  Call AES Customer Service to let us know
