Business&ITCenter21: Banking & Finance

This module introduces students to the foundations of banking and finance. Students will investigate financial terms and concepts related to the banking, finance, and insurance industries.

The Banking and Finance module is designed according to the AES course framework, which includes four phases:

Phase 1: Explore


Activity: What is FBLA

In this exercise, students will research the purpose and benefits of FBLA membership.


Activity: Banking in Your Area

In this exploration activity, students will learn more about various banks in the area and what services they offer.

Phase 2: Learn & Practice


Unit 1: Banking

The Banking unit covers what a bank is, how banks are used, and the principles of money and its uses.

Unit 2: Finance

The Finance unit covers the benefits of good credit, how to use credit, and the consequences of debt. Investing and insurance are also discussed.

Phase 3: Reflect


Activity: Questions and Discussion

In this activity, students reflect on creating a financial future.

Phase 4: Reinforce


Activity: Choosing a Credit Card

In this reinforce activity, students will research common definitions associated with credit cards and various credit card terms.


Activity: Current Event

Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
