The Public Speaking curriculum module will support students in techniques for selecting a speech topic, preparing a speech, and practicing and delivering a speech. The first few lessons will walk students through each of the steps, guiding them along the way, culminating in students delivering a speech for their peers. In addition, the final lesson will aid students in incorporating presentation software when giving a speech.
In this exploration activity, students will observe and evaluate a video of a proper speech.
In this unit, students will select a speech topic, prepare a speech, and practice delivering a speech using presentation software.
Lessons
In this exercise, students will reflect on their personal experiences with preparing for and making a speech to their peers.
The purpose of this exercise is for students to identify what a good speech looks and feels like. They will answer questions about a speech that inspires them to make a personal change, discover more about a new topic, or persuades them to try something new.
Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
