March 2011 Release

Our new Bloodborne Pathogens module includes 3 hours of interactive presentations for your blended-learning classroom. Your students will love the engaging activities that get them involved in their learning!

  • Students begin by exploring HIV and Hepatitis, including an in-depth look at one individual’s experience living with HIV and AIDS. Many students will be shocked to learn that Hepatitis is actually more infectious than HIV! A series of videos shot in a community clinic then shows students what to expect during HIV and Hepatitis testing.
  • Students then walk through a variety of infection control measures, including hand washing and other standard precautions. Students are encouraged to use personal protective equipment and shown the correct way to don and remove gowns, masks, eyewear and gloves.
  • In the last unit, students examine how the regulations in OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard affect health care employees. Students update a facility’s exposure control plan with the help of a guided scenario.
