Why Teach Critical Thinking?

Critical thinking is listed as a core standard in a variety of CTE areas. It is an important 21st Century skill that students need to thrive in an ever-changing, technological world.

Critical thinking allows people to logically assess information and use that information to make better decisions.

This module introduces students to critical thinking and is a perfect complement to AES’s other career readiness and soft skills modules.


What's Included in the Critical Thinking Module?

In this module, students take a journey with Elliot as he struggles with deciding his future after high school. Elliot encounters an unexpected companion who teaches him about critical thinking and how it can help someone make good decisions.

In total, the Critical Thinking module contains 8 curriculum hours of content across:

  • 1 exploration activity
  • 7 student lessons
  • 1 reflection activity
  • 2 reinforcement activities
  • 3 unit quizzes
  • 1 module test
