Why Did AES Create an EHR Simulation Module?

In our experience working with high school health science teachers, we've learned that it can be difficult to give your students practice working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Your students need to learn the basics, but it's not always feasible to provide that opportunity in your classroom.

Because of the challenges you've shared with us, AES developed the EHR Simulation module so your students can learn to complete real-world EHR tasks in a safe environment - without an additional cost for you!

What's Included in the EHR Simulation Module?

The EHR Simulation module provides a basic introduction to EHR systems through hands-on experience using an EHR simulation. The simulation is based on common, real-life scenarios students may encounter as medical assistants. The scenarios cover both front office and clinical tasks.

In total, the EHR Simulation module contains four units:

  • Unit 1: Scheduling Appointments
  • Unit 2: Other Front Office Tasks
  • Unit 3: Clinical Tasks
  • Unit 4: EHR Simulation Sandbox
