CPR and Basic Life Support Module Updates for the AHA 2020 Guidelines

Posted On: 4/20/21

If you teach CPR in any of your classes, you may be aware that the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support course was updated in 2020.

To help you keep up with these changes, the CPR and Basic Life Support module has been updated according to the new AHA guidelines.

What Changed in the CPR and Basic Life Support Module?

To align with the 2020 AHA BLS guidelines, the HealthCenter21 CPR and Basic Life Support module was updated to reflect:

  1. A sixth link, recovery, was added to both in-hospital and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest Chains of Survival for adults and pediatrics
  2. Single-rescuer compressions for infant rescue were updated to include different hand placement options
  3. Updated guidelines on administering the drug naloxone for suspected opioid overdoses

Though the changes made to the CPR and Basic Life Support module are relatively small, they did affect a number of eLearning lessons and the accompanying resources. Below you'll learn which materials were updated to reflect the new AHA guidelines, as mentioned above:
